Founded in 1978, Dynasty Marine provides a unique service to many well-established marine aquariums, specialty stores and collectors. Dynasty's business is to safely harvest, store and ship marine animals from off of the Florida Keys to destinations throughout North America and beyond. Founder and owner, Forrest A. Young states that "we always...take special care of our animals. Our staff members are trained biologists and we pick fish to order so each one is handled very carefully. Co-owner Ben Daughtry is responsible for the distribution of our living products to pet stores nationwide. He takes the handling of the living product very seriously, hence our nation-wide usage of the AirLiner product."
As part of this caring philosophy, many of Dynasty's larger clients and certainly for larger species of sharks and fish, Dynasty will make deliveries in its customized and temperature controlled tractor trailer / portable aquarium tank system. For it's smaller deliveries, Dynasty Marine has relied upon AirLiner to provide insulation and protection for its expedited services since 2002.
The ideal temperature range for these living creatures is between 70º F and 75º F and Dynasty has incorporated AirLiner part # 42-009 for the majority of these small package shipments. The packaging environment is a fairly rigorous one for Dynasty's shipments and as such AirLiner has been constantly put to the test. In addition to the widespread temperature fluctuations in North America, there are quite a bit of physical challenges as well. As Forrest says, "we were cautious at first and really ran 'em through the mill. We stomped on them, stocked them up high to test the load strength and generally took our time making the decision to switch."
AirLiner Delivers Major Packaging Improvements:
Cost and space savings have been realized at Dynasty! According to Mr. Young, "we've been real happy with AirLiner. It's helped us with our cost savings overall. The main thing is how little space it takes up. We are squeezed in pretty tight here and there just isn't any room to store foam containers except outside. When the wind comes up they can blow away or break up and make a mess. Foam boxes get dirty and chalky after being stored."
Also, Forrest and Ben state that AirLiner has some great marketing benefits, as well. "We really like the presentation AirLiner gives to our fish. And our customers like the way it looks. Once, one of our customers, Reef Splendor, told us that it's a "really neat" system. We just put them (the new incoming shipping containers) in the trash and the savings is tremendous (with AirLiner)."
