When Chronopost contacted us in 2005, we had received a very clear brief. Mr. Gilles Sposito, Special Adviser to the president of Chronopost, said, "We, Chronopost, want to develop a coherent and structured Parcels offer within the La Poste group. As well as build a strong and reliable European network and to expand it world wide. In that offer there is a niche for insulated packaging products enabling expedited perishable shippers to protect the temperature, improve the presentation and extend the quality of our customers brands".
Our answer to the challenge was the development of specific packaging solutions for the network, using AirLiner in capacities ranging from 7 to 30 liters. This dedicated range of AirLiners was exclusively designed with Chronopst (see pictures gammeColdBox & CA2MONO). It uses 4 baffle AirLiners, allowing the best compromise between weight and maximum temperature control ability. The technical potential of the packaging unit/box is strengthened with the use of foil bags, adequately designed and shaped to fit the AirLiner. This also ensures a complete impermeability in case of loss of liquid inside the package, preventing any damage to the outside cardboard box.
On the temperature control side, Chronopost uses mostly positive temperature solutions. The goods are kept between +2C and +8C over a maximum period of 76 hours.
With such an offer, Chronopost is able to deliver both temperature controlled and non temperature controlled parcels using the same mean of transportation. There is no need for an insulated van or truck. Basically, a new solution is offered to Chronopost customers at no extra cost.
Whether its express delivery of a 100g envelope, deferred or express deliver of a 30 kg parcel, GeoPosts brands cover all market segments whatever the destination. While their customers share the same concerns, as far as speed, cost and proximity services, GeoPosts offer is so wide that it can propose anyone a tailor made service. Gilles Sposito says, "GeoPost now has the material, technological and human resources to provide each customer with a specific and perfectly suited service, aiming at a single target: the best delivery service. Today, GeoPost is in a position to achieve this target in France, in Europe and all over the world. Cold Pack System is a key to this global offering. The great benefit of using Cold Pack System is the direct impact it has on our competitiveness. Freight and transportation costs are drastically reduced. Flexibility on delivery schedules is increased as we do not need to have a dedicated cold pack service. All boxes travel together."
