Live Freshwater Fish/Temp-Controlled Truck & Courier/Various Locations The goal of this test was to compare a 2-baffle AirLiner to an equivalent package of 1 inch molded foam. The boxes were packed in the same way with poly-bags of water and live fish. Eight different locations received both an AirLiner package and an eps control package. The packages were shipped in temperature-controlled trucks, then by common carrier to each individual location over a period of 38 hours. Most of the common carriers do not have refrigerated trucks. The graph demonstrates that the thermal comparison under these shipping conditions is very similar to the foam box. However, the field evaluations of the condition of the boxes and fish at each participating store location revealed a significant difference in performance. 25% of the stores reported dead fish (DOAs) while only one single fish was DOA in an AirLiner. 50% of the stores experienced breakage or leaking of the inner poly-bags that house the fish AirLiner had no leaking bags. In conclusion, Airliner offers a superior solution by reducing the instances of damage (DOAs, broken and leaking bags) while equaling the thermal performance of EPS. |
